Somehow running BOINC messes up DirectX 9C that is used by one of my games. If I run BOINC and then try to run a game called RIFT afterwards, 100 percent of the time I have issues with my mouse pointer in the game. I can fix it by shutting down BOINC and reinstalling DirectX 9C, then rebooting my PC. BOINC is the only piece of software that does that. Any suggestions on how I can stop BOINC from doing that?

BOINC itself doesn't do anything with the hardware, that's all down to the science applications that you get from the project. And if these run on the GPU, that'll interfere with the mouse, with the screen refresh and lots of other things.

You don't say which projects you run, or which BOINC, or on which Windows, or what your hardware is. Mind lifting that veil?

Are you pausing BOINC while gaming? When I game, I will either pause just the GPU or BOINC altogether, depending on the game's requirements.

But for maybe a comma missing, it seems he's running Windows 10, and having DirectX problems. Suggest the addition of an <exclusive_app>exactriftgamename.exe</exclusive_app> line addition to the cc_config.xml, so the client wont ever run when gaming with RIFT.

BTW, saw mentioned that W10 comes with DirectX 12
